Native American goverment funds?

My husband is half native american indian, his mother was full blooded indian, Menomonee tribe of Wisconsin, making our 2 kids about a 1/4 native american indian. I have heard that there r government funds for native americans, tax breaks maybe money available. My question is does anybody know where to look for such funds, how do i find out what if anything is available for them?

First, in order to qualify for any programs for American Indians, one must be an enrolled member/citizen of a US Federally Recognized Tribe, which the Menominee Tribe of Wisconsin is. Is your husband enrolled? Are your kids? If not, they must become enrolled in order to qualify for anything reserved for American Indians.

Now, what do they get if they become enrolled? It’s hard to say what they will get but it is really easy to say what they won’t get: There are no monthly checks from the federal government, no tax breaks unless you reside on tribal land (and then it’s just state and local taxes, there are no federal tax breaks), no free college — These are all myths. Now, the tribe (Menominee Tribe of WI) may have programs available for your husband and kids but you’d have to contact the tribe directly to find out what/if any programs/services they provide to their enrolled members/citizens.

Edit: There is no free college for American Indians PERIOD. However, some tribes pay the bill for their enrolled tribal members. This is not *free college* this is someone else besides the student paying the bill. ;o)
